Job Description – International Business Development Manager (New Business)
Company: La Puta Suegra
Location: Barcelona office (on-site), with extensive international travel required
Type: Full-time position
Department: Business Development
Reports to: General Management / Commercial Director
Priority Markets: Gulf Region and Middle East (Priority 1), Europe and the United Kingdom (Priority 2), Latin America and the United States with support from the Mexico City and New York offices (Priority 3), plus the consolidation and growth of the Spanish market
1. Role Mission
To open new markets, sectors, and countries for La Puta Suegra and bring in new clients. This is a true hunter profile: someone who opens doors where we are not yet present, generates opportunities, and closes deals, rather than simply managing existing business. The primary focus is expansion into the Gulf Region and the Middle East, followed by Europe, Latin America, and the United States, while also supporting growth in the domestic market.
The role sells to three client segments: high-net-worth private clients, brands and corporations, and partners or sponsors, adapting the sales approach to each audience and cultural context.
2. Key Responsibilities
Market Expansion and Prospecting
• Identify and open new markets, sectors, and countries, with a primary focus on the Gulf Region and the Middle East.
• Identify business opportunities and build a strong, consistent sales pipeline.
• Conduct proactive prospecting through market research, networking, trade fairs, industry events, cold outreach, and relationship development.
• Secure meetings with decision-makers and represent the brand in international markets.
Sales and Closing
• Sell to all three segments: high-net-worth individuals, brands and companies seeking corporate events, and partners or sponsors.
• Understand each client’s underlying needs, build a compelling value proposition, and close deals.
• Adapt messaging, proposals, and communication style to different client profiles and cultural environments.
• Negotiate commercial terms and agreements in coordination with senior management.
Strengthening the Spanish Market
• Consolidate and expand the company’s client base and market presence in Spain.
Pipeline Management and Internal Coordination
• Work toward sales targets established by management and report pipeline activity and results accurately.
• Coordinate with production, creative, and leadership teams to develop tailored proposals.
• Ensure a smooth handover of closed clients to the production team.
Market Intelligence
• Monitor competitors, market trends, and key industry players in each target market.
• Provide market insights to management to help guide international expansion strategy.
3. Educational Requirements
• Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, International Business, International Relations, Communications, or a related field.
• Additional training in sales, business development, or international negotiation is highly valued.
4. Experience
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in business development, sales, or new business roles with an international focus.
• Proven track record of opening new markets and acquiring new clients. A hunter mentality is essential; experience managing existing accounts alone is not sufficient.
• Experience in the events industry is highly desirable, as is experience in luxury, premium hospitality, high-end brands, or services aimed at affluent clientele.
• Existing network or previous experience in the Gulf Region and the Middle East is highly valued.
• Experience selling to different stakeholder groups, including high-net-worth individuals, corporations, and brands.
5. Technical Requirements and Languages
• Exceptional language skills. Native or near-native Spanish and professional-level English (C2/C1 equivalent) are essential.
• Arabic is highly valued due to the strategic importance of the Gulf Region and the Middle East.
• French is considered a plus (Middle East, North Africa, and Europe). Additional languages are advantageous.
• Strong proficiency in CRM systems and sales prospecting tools such as Salesforce, HubSpot, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
• Comfortable preparing high-level commercial proposals, presentations, and negotiations.
• Full availability for international travel. This role spends a significant amount of time on the road.
• Valid Category B driving licence (mandatory).
6. Personal Attributes and Soft Skills
• Hunter mindset: driven, proactive, and resilient in the face of rejection.
• Ability to open doors and quickly build trust with senior-level stakeholders.
• Strong cultural intelligence, capable of selling effectively across diverse markets such as the Gulf Region, Europe, Latin America, and the United States.
• Outstanding communication and negotiation skills.
• Highly autonomous with a strong results-oriented approach.
• Discretion, professionalism, and elegance when dealing with affluent clients.
• Affinity with La Puta Suegra’s creative, irreverent, and luxury-oriented universe.
7. Core Skills
• Market Entry – creating opportunities where none currently exist.
• Prospecting – generating a consistent and high-quality pipeline.
• Closing – converting opportunities into clients.
• Cultural Intelligence – selling successfully across markets and client profiles.
• Results Orientation – delivering tangible business growth, not just activity.
8. What We Offer
• The opportunity to lead the international expansion of a leading luxury events studio.
• A portfolio that opens doors: Cartier, Cupra, Revolut, Munich, and extensive media exposure.
• Genuine career growth opportunities as the company expands into new markets.
• A creative, demanding, and highly dynamic environment with unique projects.
• Competitive compensation package, including a performance-based variable component.
