Company: La Puta Suegra

Location: Barcelona Office (on-site, with international travel availability)

Type: Full-time position (on-site)

Department: Creative Direction & Production

Reports to: Creative Director / General Management

Direct Reports: No fixed internal team. Coordinates external suppliers and workshops on a project basis.

Before You Apply

This is not a graphic design position nor a purely conceptual art direction role.

At La Puta Suegra, we produce technical plans, develop buildable drawings and create our own realistic renders.

If your work is mainly based on mood boards and AI-generated imagery, and you are not able to produce technical plans from scratch or create professional renders in AutoCAD or Vectorworks, this is not the right role for you.

We are looking for an uncommon hybrid profile: equal parts technical expertise and artistic sensitivity. However, technical capability is the entry requirement.

1. Role Mission

To conceive and, above all, technically materialize the spaces and scenographies behind La Puta Suegra’s events, from concept through execution.

We are looking for a hybrid professional: the technical expertise of an architect or interior designer (real drafting, AutoCAD, self-produced renders) combined with the aesthetic vision of an art director.

Aesthetics and technical excellence carry equal weight, but technical proficiency is non-negotiable. We draw what will actually be built.

2. Key Responsibilities

Technical Design and Drafting

• Create detailed site surveys and technical plans based on real measurements and venue visits.

• Produce executable technical drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections and construction details using AutoCAD and Vectorworks.

• Create realistic, self-produced renders that accurately represent the final outcome.

• Translate creative concepts into technical documentation that suppliers and workshops can execute without ambiguity.

• Resolve technical feasibility including dimensions, materials, structures and installation requirements.

Creativity and Art Direction

• Develop the artistic concept and atmosphere for each event space and scenographic installation.

• Define palettes, materials, furniture, lighting and styling with a luxury-oriented aesthetic approach.

• Ensure every project reflects the brand’s disruptive, sophisticated and luxury positioning.

• Use AI, if at all, only as a tool for early-stage ideation. Never as a final render or client deliverable.

Production and On-Site Execution

• Attend build-ups and installations to supervise and validate execution against plans and creative intent.

• Resolve visual and technical adjustments in real time during installation.

• Coordinate carpenters, florists, decorators, lighting designers and installation crews.

Autonomy and Project Coordination

• Deliver projects independently from concept through execution.

• Collaborate closely with production and management teams while coordinating external suppliers.

• Document processes and learnings to improve future projects.

3. Educational Requirements

• Degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Interior Design, Spatial Design, Set Design or related disciplines.

• Additional training in event scenography, art direction or temporary space design is a plus.

4. Technical Requirements (Non-Negotiable)

Without these, nothing else matters

• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Vectorworks (mandatory).

• Proven ability to create technical plans from scratch and deliver fully executable drawings.

• Ability to create self-produced realistic renders using V-Ray, Corona, SketchUp, Rhino, 3ds Max or Cinema 4D (mandatory).

• All plans and renders must be original and produced by the candidate. AI-generated outputs are only acceptable during ideation and never as final deliverables.

Additional Requirements

• Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) for presentation materials.

• Knowledge of temporary architecture, materials, scenography and lighting.

• Desirable: understanding of technical event production, structures, mapping, sound and lighting systems.

• Spanish C2 (native or equivalent) and English C1 (mandatory for international communication).

• French or Arabic are considered a plus.

• Valid driving licence (Category B) required.

5. Experience

• Proven experience in interior design, architecture or scenography, supported by a portfolio of real built projects, not only conceptual work.

• Portfolio demonstrating both technical drafting skills and self-produced renders, alongside strong aesthetic judgment.

• Experience in events, luxury hospitality, retail environments, exhibition stands or temporary installations is highly valued.

6. Personal Attributes and Soft Skills

• Genuine dual profile: technical expertise and artistic vision.

• Obsession with detail, precision and visual excellence.

• Complete autonomy and ability to lead projects from concept through construction.

• Ability to perform under pressure and manage demanding deadlines.

• Clear communication with production teams, management and suppliers.

• Passion for art, temporary architecture, design and luxury events.

• Alignment with La Puta Suegra’s disruptive and unconventional philosophy.

7. Core Competencies

• Technical drafting and realistic rendering: drawing exactly what will be built.

• Art direction: transforming spaces into experiences and atmospheres.

• Technical feasibility: ensuring beauty can actually be executed.

• Autonomy: delivering projects independently.

• On-site execution: guaranteeing the final result matches both plan and concept.

8. What We Offer

• The opportunity to design and build luxury event spaces and scenographies on an international scale.

• Genuine creative freedom supported by a world-class production team.

• Unique, high-impact projects.

• A demanding, inspiring and highly creative environment.

• Competitive compensation aligned with experience.

9. Recruitment Process

  1. Submit your CV and portfolio (mandatory) to rrhh@laputasuegra.com. The portfolio must include technical drawings and self-produced renders.

  2. Presentation of a portfolio featuring real built projects.

  3. Technical assessment: based on a given venue, produce technical plans, propose a scenographic concept and deliver both a technical drawing package and a self-produced render (AI not permitted).

  4. Two interview stages: one virtual and one in person.

  5. Final decision and onboarding.
